Exposing the Truth about Mercury Retrograde
I’m so tired of seeing people on the internet spreading fear and anxiety about Mercury Retrograde, so let’s get to the truth.
Mercury will officially be retrograde from April 1-25, but you may already be feeling its effects.
First of all, what does it mean for Mercury to be retrograde?
During this time, Mercury appears to be moving backwards because of its proximity to the Earth, but it’s an optical illusion - the planet is not actually spinning backwards.
What does this mean for us?
Mercury rules communication, thinking, and travel, which means that these areas of life are most impacted by its retrograde. This is why Mercury Retrograde is often associated with travel delays, technological issues, and miscommunications.
However, rather than looking for the worst in Mercury Retrograde, we should see this as an opportunity to examine these areas. This is an amazing time to slow down your mental processes, check in with yourself and gain clarity about what is in alignment.
How can you improve your communication processes? Are the ways you communicate representative of the person you are now?
Be intentional with your words.
What’s different about this Mercury Retrograde?
This particular Mercury Retrograde may feel a little extra intense due to the effects of eclipse season. In addition, Mercury is in Aries, which is bold, enthusiastic, and at times aggressive.
Chances are, the themes that arise during this season are coming up for a reason. Pay attention to what is happening in your life, and seek self-understanding. Aries season is a time of new beginnings, but it’s important to look at the big picture and get clear about what it is that you are beginning.
How do we stay calm, cool, and collected during Mercury Retrograde?
Do:
Think before you speak….or text, email, DM. Don’t let communication mishaps get the best of you.
Spend time in reflection. The retrograde motion invites us to look back and reassess your path without taking action on it. Simply allow yourself time and space to reminisce.
Express your emotions in healthy ways. Try journaling or physical activity to release any pent up anger or frustration.
Don’t:
Sign contracts or make big changes. Because our mental clarity is not at its strongest, it’s best to wait until after Mercury Retrograde to make any big life changes.
Make impulsive decisions. While it may feel like progress is slow or nonexistent, this is a time to be patient. Rushing through/into things could result in making mistakes.
Jump to conclusions. Take time to get the full picture before addressing things that come up from a place of anger or frustration.
