Healing from abusive relationships

“Any personal growth that comes after abuse is a testimony to the strength of the survivor.” - Healing from Hidden Abuse

It’s not easy to talk about the impact an abusive relationship had on your self-esteem. It’s normal to question whether you’re the problem, to feel broken, and to experience self-doubt.

But when you start talking about it...you start to heal from it.

  • Talking about their experiences allows survivors to become aware of the lies they were told, and replace the lies with truth.

  • Talking about their experiences allows survivors to recognize the harm that was done.

  • Talking about their experiences allows survivors to regain control of their own thoughts and beliefs.

  • Talking about their experiences allows survivors to acknowledge the ways in which they have grown.

  • Talking about their experiences allows survivors to welcome healthy people into their lives.

  • Talking about their experiences allows survivors to find renewed hope for the future.

You deserve to love yourself. You deserve to be excited about the future. You deserve people in your life who love you for exactly who you are. You deserve to heal and move forward.

Healing your relationship with food

What if glowing up was never about losing weight? What if the real glow up is about loving yourself?

Here’s the thing...while it’s all done in the name of health, “clean eating” and fad dieting has created a culture of weight stigmatization and discrimination. Not to mention that it can lead to eating disorders, food and body preoccupation, and reduced self-esteem.

Rather than focusing on losing weight or obsessing over how many calories or macros are in our foods (which ultimately just distracts us from our actual health goals) wouldn’t it be nice to honor our health by paying attention to what our bodies are telling us?

It may feel so far out of reach right now, but it is absolutely possible to normalize your relationship with your body and cultivate a healthy relationship with food through self-care, self-compassion and body appreciation.
